After creating two successful couponing websites in the Netherlands, Dutch startup Imbull went global with Flipit.com.
I was responsible for managing Flipit Brazil and Flipit Portugal, adapting the original website’s content to the Brazilian and Portuguese audiences and writing copy about coupons and offers of hundreds of web shops.
Shop pages were constantly updated with new coupons and offers, and special attention was given to SEO. Flipit stood out from its competitors because it took content marketing seriously. It offered more than just a list of coupons — it also had background information about the shops and, in the case of big brands, the latest news about them.
The website also had a page called Flipit Plus, with tips on shopping trends and how to save money while shopping online. Those articles helped Flipit to improve its search engine rankings and allowed us to promote the website by republishing and recycling this content on other websites (link building), not to mention they offered more value to our visitors.
My work with Flipit didn’t only involve writing copy, SEO and web analysis. I also assisted the account management team in negotiating exclusive deals and coupons with the affiliate networks that represented the best online shops.
I also got involved with influencer marketing, buying advertorials from important blogs and white label deals with news websites. I sent out press releases and content pieces that would prompt news outlets to use Flipit as a source, such as exclusive research and infographics.
